December Designer Dish: Top 10 Favorites from I’On Coastal Living Cottage

December 17th, 2009

Before Thanksgiving, we had the pleasure of taking a private tour of the Coastal Living Cottage [thanks to Deborah at Structures Building Co.].  The design team did a magnificent job in creating a stylish, eclectic cottage with a funky edge, from the unique architectural elements and interior finishes through the furnishings.  Might we add, we admired it so much that we could easily move in as is!

Here are our top 10 picks:

10.  Master Rug from Madeline Weinrib Atelier [a favorite of our's as you may well know from past posts]

This rug plays off of the design of the linen print canopy and acts as a beautiful base to the room.

9. Studio Adjustable Floor Lamp in Rubbed Antique Brass, Circa

Studio Floor Lamp

This handsome lamp adds nice height to the living room and its 28″w shade lends a hint of drama.

8. Peter Dunham Textiles’ Pasha Ikat fabric in sleeping nook

Sleeping nook

Adored the cozy, inviting atmosphere of the sleeping nook off the den as well as Angie’s interpretation of layers through pattern and texture. We were especially drawn to the eggplant “pasha” hue in Peter Dunham’s ikat print.

7. Vintage Rattan headboard in master suite, Angie Hranowsky Design Studio

What unexpected and attractive  juxtaposition of this vintage rattan enveloped in the linen and silk canopy.

6. Guest Suite Essex Chest from Somerset Bay

Shown in the truffle finish used in the show home.

The Essex chest was a great choice for this room as it acts as a subtle, yet intricate detail against the warm chocolate room. The truffle finish worked beautifully as its corner details compliment the wall color as well.

5. Dining Chairs: Slipcovered low-back campaign chairs from Lee Industries intermingled with vintage Knoll Bertoia Chairs  from Foxglove Antiques offer a casual, yet elegant approach to the dining room.  We typically enjoy metal and upholstery used together, especially in this case as the white antique metal provides a crisp pop to the room.

4. Vintage Link Trim, Kelly Wearstler Groundworks for Lee Jofa

Vintage Link Trim Groundworks by KW for Lee Jofa

Pictured in saffron, this trim is the perfect finishing accent.  So much so that our principal designer will be using it in her new master bedroom. We’ll be sure to share photos when finished.

3. Salvaged Newel Post from Southern Accents Architectural Antiques.

As we always say, incorporating vintage pieces undoubtedly adds character to any space.  Perfect example here.  We also love this similar option from their inventory as well.

2.  Nottingham Honeycomb Ceramic Tile, Ann Sacks

This Nottingham Honeycomb adds intriguing 3-D texture and creates such a bold statement when treated as an entire wall application. The color choices here work very well in a coastal setting with an almost shell-like appearance.

1. Molly B. Right’s Stunning Bottlecap Artwork

Absolutely divine! This piece was our favorite throughout the entire home.  What an original concept which is mesmerizing in person.  Definitely check out her work. Here’s another from her online portfolio that we couldn’t resist sharing.  Take note…she does pet portrait applications as well…what a nice gift for a loved one.
