You may recall previous posts on artists Hayley Gaberlavage and local Stacey Bradley of Perla Anne. Well, we’re thrilled to be using some of their work in a downtown media room wall series. These just arrived this week and we had the pleasure of meeting Stacey in person who dropped her peacock and eames chair prints by the studio. Here’s a peek at the the progress.

[Media room concept illustration] Our client wanted a fun, playful environment for watching movies and lounging that both he and his children would enjoy. The design choices were inspired by a piece of artwork [filled with bright, energetic hues] he recently received.

Works just in from Perla Anne & Hayley Gaberlavage that will be incorporated in the series. Both introduced to us by Style Court.

If you’ve been following our blog, you may recall our progress updates from previous posts on this Remley’s Point home in Mt. Pleasant. Here’s a quick glimpse at a few images of the home nearing completion. Next phase, furnishings and decor.

Kitchen Backsplash. Our clients loved the natural hues in this small, mosaic glass subway tile, which work well with the more natural, earth tones of the home. In certain light, you can distinguish watery greenish blues as well, which will complement the colors in their nearby furnishings.

Custom designed fireplace for casual living area.

Small snapshot of the powder room with streamlined vanity with vessel sink and vintage scrap copper mirror [below].

Casual living area design concept blending more neutral large upholstery pieces with accents in these graphic prints to add color and further showcase the clients draw to nature with this large scale botanical print. Using pillows are a nice way to incorporate color and pattern in a smaller scale that still makes a large impact. When you keep a neutral foundation for a room, you can easily update the look for years to come by simply changing the pillows or accent items if you wish.

Custom tile work in the master bath with linear, striated stone tiles before shower glass installation. Notice the bamboo-inspired hardware as well.

Master bedding concept incorporating cool blue and green tones with another botanical fabric for the euro shams that ties the colors together and adds some visual interest.

We’ve been so fortunate to get great press on our Driftwood Bliss Bed over the past couple of years, and a recent mention in The World of Interiors led to our first international shipment to London.

Rather than immediately showing the finished product…we wanted to give you a quick glimpse into the making of these beautiful beds.

The journey begins as our craftsman searches along the Carolina shores [with an impeccably discerning eye] for suitable pieces driftwood.

Upon gathering and washing the driftwood, the pieces are hung to determine the length of the bed posts, balance and cut.

After hand-pegging headboard to posts with solely white pine wooden peg construction, our craftsman hand chisels channels in the head and foot boards to receive the bed rails.

The two bedrails are attached using a nut and bolt application to allow for shipping and easy reassembly.

After intense sanding, the bed is complete and ready for its new abode. In this particular case, it’s ready to set sail for it’s new dwelling in a London flat.

A special thanks to our shipping agent Kerr Carter with Carotrans Int’l for facilitating a magnificently easy maiden voyage for the DBB.

Some of you may recall our previous post when we began working on this home with the pictures of the home pre-renovation. With the kitchen renovation and painting complete, we’re beginning to move forward with their furnishings and decor. In the mean time — here’s a quick glimpse at the updated color palette and kitchen.

Quite a difference from the original colors that contrasted greatly. They’re so pleased with the more “toned down” color palette.

We love the marble subway tile backsplash. So clean and classic. Much more appealing than the former yellow and red kitchen.

For more information on paint colors and materials shown, email us at info@parkersimsinteriors.com or ring us at 843.278.8707.

Of course, we had to share another picture of their peacocks!

We recently photographed a creekfront renovation on James Island for a young couple we’ve had the pleasure of working with over the last year. After moving in, they realized it was time to begin renovations to update the home to better fit their needs and tastes. Here’s a sneak peek of the finished product and some before & afters.

Kitchen renovation

[Before] To describe this view in one word – outdated.

[After] – Open and spacious, great for the foodies.

Solarium

[Before] Mostly sparse, especially after the Christmas decorations were removed.

[After] We love the contrasting reds and blues here. The pillow fabric was inspired by this chest, which was a Christmas gift for the couple.

We just completed a small furniture installation for an on-going project in Riverland Terrace for a great couple we’re working with. Complete with new wainscotting and custom cabinetry and now new furnishings, we’re well on our way to completing the room.

Before

After

Fabric inspiration

To complement their existing decor and color palette, we chose earthy tones that were inspired by this botanical print from Schumacher. To keep the look classic, yet current, we worked in a geometric lattice print for the pillows in the chairs along with this driftwood lamp that works well in the space.

And one of the reasons we love doing this so much…this email in our inbox Friday evening from our client:

“Everything looks fabulous! We even had some friends over tonight and were able to test the furniture out. So comfortable and exactly what we wanted! Thanks for everything!”

We’ll keep you posted on progress as this project continues to unfold.

We wanted to share a project we’re working on currently with architect Jamey Arthur, of Sceltas Design build (previously with Cobb Architecture), for a young couple set to wed in St. John this fall. Jamey designed this home with a rustic contemporary twist to the traditional craftsman style. We’ll keep you posted as the building continues.

Here’s a preview of the exterior colors.

For dramatic appeal, Jamey designed a cathedral ceiling that comes to view soonafter walking through a charming window-lined hallway soaked in sunlight. Here are a couple of images of the progression of the living room’s substantial fireplace.
